SCRAPMYGOLDUK
Terms & Conditions
These terms explain how our gold valuation, testing and payout process works. Please read them before sending any items to us.
Last updated: June 2026
1. About ScrapMyGoldUK
ScrapMyGoldUK provides gold valuation, testing and buying services. We assess items using professional testing methods, including XRF analysis where appropriate, and provide customers with an offer based on the confirmed metal content, weight and live market pricing.
ScrapMyGoldUK is operated by Knaux Bullion Ltd.
Company details, registered office address and company number should be displayed clearly on this website and may also appear on our contact page, invoices, forms or customer communications.
2. Who can use our service
You must be at least 18 years old to use our service.
By submitting items to us, you confirm that:
- You are the legal owner of the items.
- You have full authority to sell or submit the items for valuation.
- The items are not stolen, subject to finance, disputed ownership, or connected to any unlawful activity.
- The details you provide to us are accurate and complete.
We reserve the right to refuse service, cancel a valuation, request further information, or report suspicious items or activity where required by law.
3. Calculator estimates
Any payout shown by our calculator is an estimate only. Calculator estimates are based on the information entered by the customer, including carat and weight, together with the live gold price available at the time of viewing.
The calculator does not guarantee a final payout. Final offers may be higher or lower than the calculator estimate if the actual item weight, purity, stones, non-gold parts, plating, damage, hallmarks, mixed metals, or test results differ from the information entered.
4. Price lock and live market pricing
Gold prices move throughout the day. Calculator values are indicative at the time they are viewed.
Your payout rate is locked when your parcel is received by us and testing begins. The final offer is then calculated using the confirmed test results, confirmed weight and the applicable live market price at that time.
If there is a delay caused by missing information, unclear ownership, suspected fraud, customer non-response, incomplete details, postal issues, or any other issue outside our control, the final offer may be calculated when the issue is resolved and testing can proceed.
5. No hidden fees or deductions
We do not apply hidden fees or surprise deductions to your confirmed offer.
Once your items have been tested and a final offer is made, the amount offered is the amount payable if you accept, unless we have clearly agreed otherwise with you in writing.
This does not mean the calculator estimate is guaranteed. The final amount depends on the actual items received, their confirmed weight, purity and test results.
6. Sending items to us
Customers are responsible for safely packaging items before posting them to us.
We recommend using Royal Mail Special Delivery with suitable compensation cover for the value of the items being sent. You should keep your proof of postage and tracking number.
We are not responsible for parcels that are lost, damaged or delayed before they are delivered to us. Responsibility for a parcel remains with the customer and/or postal provider until it has been received by us.
7. Receiving and matching parcels
When your parcel arrives, we will use the information you submitted, such as your name, email, phone number, tracking number and item description, to match the parcel to your valuation request.
If we cannot match a parcel to a customer, or if customer details are incomplete, testing and payment may be delayed until the parcel can be correctly identified.
8. Testing process
We may use a range of testing methods to assess items, including visual inspection, weighing, magnet testing, acid testing, XRF testing, filing, cutting or other appropriate checks.
XRF testing is usually non-invasive, but in some cases filing, cutting, acid testing or further inspection may be required to confirm purity, identify plating, test beneath the surface, or detect mixed-metal items.
By sending items to us, you agree that reasonable testing may be carried out where necessary to confirm the material, weight and value of the items.
9. Live testing
Where available, customers may request live testing or testing shown on camera. This may take place through social media platforms, video call, recorded video, or another method agreed by us.
Live testing is subject to availability, staff capacity, platform access, privacy requirements and operational suitability. We cannot guarantee that every parcel or item will be tested live.
We will not intentionally display personal information such as your full name, address, bank details or contact details during live testing.
By requesting live testing, you agree that your items may be shown on camera for valuation and testing purposes. If you do not want your items shown publicly, you should tell us before testing begins.
10. Final offer
After testing, we will provide a final offer based on the confirmed metal content, weight, purity and live market pricing at the time your parcel is received and testing begins.
You are under no obligation to accept the final offer.
If you accept the offer, you agree to sell the accepted items to ScrapMyGoldUK / Knaux Bullion Ltd for the agreed amount.
11. Accepting an offer
You may accept an offer by email, form submission, message, phone confirmation, or another written or recorded method accepted by us.
Once you accept an offer and payment has been processed, ownership of the accepted items transfers to ScrapMyGoldUK / Knaux Bullion Ltd.
After acceptance and payment, items may be processed, refined, resold, melted, stored, or otherwise dealt with. Once this happens, items cannot usually be returned.
12. Payment
Payments are normally made by UK bank transfer after you accept the final offer and provide correct payment details.
We are not responsible for delays caused by incorrect bank details, bank processing times, fraud checks, customer non-response, technical issues, or circumstances outside our control.
You are responsible for ensuring that the bank details you provide are correct.
13. Declining an offer and return of items
If you decline the final offer, we will arrange for your items to be returned to you.
Returned items will normally be sent using a tracked and insured postal service. We may require confirmation of your return address before dispatching the parcel.
If testing has required filing, cutting, acid testing, removal from packaging, or other reasonable checks, items may not be returned in exactly the same condition as they were received.
We are not responsible for delays caused by postal providers once returned items have been dispatched.
14. Customer cancellation
You may cancel your valuation request before testing begins by contacting us as soon as possible.
If your parcel has not yet been received, you should avoid posting it or contact the postal provider where possible.
If your parcel has already been received but testing has not started, we will arrange return of your items.
Once testing has begun, cancellation may not prevent reasonable testing already underway. Once you have accepted an offer and payment has been made, cancellation will not usually be possible because ownership of the accepted items has transferred to us.
15. Items we may refuse
We may refuse to value, test or buy any item at our discretion. This includes but is not limited to:
- Items suspected to be stolen or unlawfully obtained.
- Items where ownership is unclear or disputed.
- Items containing hazardous materials.
- Items that cannot be tested safely or accurately.
- Items that are counterfeit, plated, filled, non-gold, or materially different from the description provided.
- Items sent with incomplete or false customer information.
16. Stones, watches, non-gold parts and mixed items
Our offers are usually based on precious metal content only, unless we clearly agree otherwise.
Stones, gems, watch movements, straps, springs, steel parts, clasps, filled areas, non-gold attachments and other non-precious components may not be included in the gold valuation.
If an item includes mixed materials, the final offer may be adjusted after testing and inspection.
17. Accuracy of information
You agree to provide accurate contact information, item descriptions, tracking details and payment details.
We are not responsible for delays, failed payments, incorrect returns, or valuation issues caused by inaccurate or incomplete customer information.
18. Fraud, identity and security checks
We may carry out checks where needed to prevent fraud, confirm ownership, verify identity, comply with legal obligations, or protect our business and customers.
We may delay or refuse payment where we have reasonable concerns about ownership, identity, fraud, suspicious activity, or legal compliance.
19. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
We are not responsible for losses caused by incorrect customer information, postal delays, postal loss before delivery to us, third-party service failures, customer delay, market price movement before the price lock point, or events outside our reasonable control.
20. Privacy and personal data
We use customer information to process valuation requests, match parcels, contact customers, make payments, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
You should read our Privacy Policy for more information about how we collect, use and store personal data.
21. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version displayed on this page at the time you use our service will apply to your request unless otherwise agreed in writing.
22. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless applicable consumer law gives you additional rights in another part of the United Kingdom.
23. Contact us
